Assorted Topics: Dresden Files, Passover, BPAL, TV

So I read Turn Coat last night, which was awesome as I've come to expect from the Dresden books. Somehow, Butcher always manages to bring it in a major league way. Seriously people, you should start reading them, they are delicious fictional crack and will make you happy. Sadly at least part of all three of my 3 fic ideas are totally jossed by the events of the book. But the events were worth being jossed by, even if sad.

This year, I finally attempted a seder of my own (after planning to for like 3 years and flaking or giving in to family pressure). It could have gone better; it could have gone worse. It was just Jeremy and I and [livejournal.com profile] sophia_helix and [livejournal.com profile] actoplasm, which was good in the sense of my only having a very small table, but weird in that I was the only one who'd ever been to a seder before. I felt sort of awkward, at least until the wine kicked in.

On BPAL news, I definitely need to swap my Bhagdad for one that is more spicy. Lady Macbeth, Frumious Bandersnatch, and March Hare are all lovely on me. Juke Joint smells great in the bottle but turned sort of baby powdery on me, losing it's refreshing edge. I'm trying Siren right now; so far it has sweetened up somewhat on my skin but still seems distressingly woody (Must be the white ginger since I doubt it's the jasmine, vanilla, or apricot), probably just as well given my issues with ginger.

With the TV season wrapping up quickly (Oh Life! Why did you have to pick the pace back up and end awesomely and therefore make me sad that you will not get renewed even though it is your own fault you wasted this season for the most part? Oh Sarah Connor Chronicles! How are you so awesome?) it is sort of accidentally nice that Fox has kept fucking with Bones' schedule and doing weird empty weeks, because now there is still a lot of it left. More even than Dollhouse with it's late start. Does anyone know how many episodes Castle has this season?

Ugh! I never should have tried BPAL with ginger in it! It is making me want to die as well as not smelling good. Time to go scrub myself clean and then I will reward myself by trying Bengal on at last, which in the bottle smells perfect. Then in a few hours Jeremy will come home and we will go enjoy the fact that Little Caesars has opened up right down the street (my favorite big pizza franchise and one that is generally disappearing) and Jeremy got paid today and we have paid all our bills. But first, to get rid of this terrible judgment error of scent.

I don't remember if I've ever had a Little Casesar's pizza. I think I may have only eaten their breadsticks? They have rectangular pizzas, right? Maybe I had some. I don't remember how they are.

The pizzas used to be square but they made them regualr shaped sometime in the late nineties... which I thought sucked because square pizza was awesome and memorable and meant some pieces had NO CRUST.

Urgh, I haven't had Little Caesars in literally over 10 years, and it was my favorite as a kid. I miss Crazy Bread!

Also, which Dresden File should I start with? Logically I would start with the first one, but I know a lot of times when I am recommending mystery series, I prioritize my favorites over chronology.

Oh! And I agree about Life. About wasting its second season, I mean. I got bored and stopped watching it. I think the last one I saw had Beaver in it, actually.

I will think of you when I eat mine tonight. I am hoping this location opening indicates the start of a come back for them.

There's continuous plot so I'd start from the beginning (Storm Front), but there is a significant jump in level of awesome at book 4 (Summer Knight), if you find yourself meh on the first one.

Most of this season jsut sort of wandered around, ruining Dani's characterization and forgetting the Bank of LA shootout and plot bigger than the week. But the last few episodes really picked up and the finale actually explained why Charlie went to jail in the first place finally, so I'd check it out.

Bengal has ginger. :(

Yeah, I am hoping that since the scents it is with are stronger it will be less of an issue. Also it actually smells good in the bottle, unlike Siren. *crosses fingers*

Still haven't read Turn Coat (my MO to date has been to grab the books from the library when they appeared there... but this is the first time other people I know are reading the series and all caught up, so that's going to be quite a bit harder to stick to...), but I've spoiled myself as soon as I could, and my second thought (after a spoilery one going, "Oh, [character], no! :(" was, "Oops, I guess [personal profile] lodessa's fic is kind of jossed..."

Happy Passover! Our seders, with family or without, are always terribly sketchy, but the wine does help!

Yeah, I mean I could make it work but it would probably be better just to wait a few years for things to swing back around as they inevitably will and pull the plot I spent all this time on out for a different fic, possibly my Sanya/Murphy fic (which is the only one that is salvageable, although I will need to completely change the setup thanks to the change in Harry's romantic status).

Happy Passover to you too! Our family seders are stressful and aggravating for me (I don't know why we have them since everyone just spends the whole time bitching and saying things like "let my people EAT") which is why I have been planning to do my own but then there are all kind of other weirdness issues.
