lodessa: lol (firefly-inara cry)
The sunset makes the sky bleed red and Bellatrix thinks it’s preferable to the cold emptiness that will follow. It’s a cloudy night so the stars cannot be seen. They’ve all left her, Bellatrix thinks bitterly. She almost wills them to never come back; she almost wishes that the sky would never clear and the sun will never rise.; because, they are never coming back. The metaphor is mixed, because how can blackness reign supreme when they’ve all gone and left her all alone. Auntie tells Bellatrix that she has to take chances, that a frog can become a prince and Bellatrix thinks to herself that she’d rather turn a certain prince into a frog. She doesn’t though and there are formal pictures to be taken which feel empty and naked with all the missing people. It’s like a night sky with only a handful of stars, and Narcissa is a faint star unlike the brightness of her sister and cousin and it seems wrong that she should remain when the greater lights are gone. It’s Cissy’s birthdaytoday and she’s leaving Bellatrix too, although their parent coo and rhapsodize about that instead of pretending and praying that she had never been. Bellatrix is the last star left to shine, alone in the firmament as her companions flicker, fall, or explode in a brilliant display of destruction and chaos. She crushes one of the fire fairies enchanted to dance through the ballroom between her palms. This one will never leave her
