10 Unpopular Fandom Opinions (I think)
1) Logan/Veronica is not OTP to me. I'm not like opposed to the pairing but I don't think it's that amazing and thanks to fandom I would not be sad if it dissapeared from the face of the earth.
2) I don't generally like friendship pairings. This doesn't mean that I don't like pairing anyone who are friends together but the whole "oh look we are such great friends it must be love" thing bores me to death. So yes this includes: Harry/Ron, Harry/Hermione, Sirius/Remus, Mal/Zoe, Mal/Kaylee, Veronica/Wallace, Izzie/George etc.
3) I don't care about who Harry OR Draco is paired with. Neither character is really that fascinating or attractive to me. Also... I don't care about Regulus Black.
4)Izzie/Denny made me want to puke all over myself. Seriously.
5) Slash and Het really aren't fundementally different. Get over yourselves on both sides.
6) I liked Duncan. I didn't like a lot of the writer's choices about what to do with Duncan in season 2, but I think he was an interesting character with a lot of potential.
7) I enjoy Buffy/Angel and Buffy/Spike differently but with no particular preference for one over the other.
8) Ron is the king of straight people. Straight as an arrow and what not.
9) Protagonists and villians usually are less intersting to me than side characters.
10) I don't like Mal/River or Jayne/River.

Date: 2006-08-25 10:58 pm (UTC)I mean I know why. They are the two not paired up canonically. But that doesn't make it work for me.
River only belongs with her brother... duh!

Date: 2006-08-25 11:04 pm (UTC)Ron being straight probably wouldn't be a big fixation for me if it were not for the fandom's insistance on everyone being gay. You've heard me and Rachel's rendition of "Weasley is our King" right?

Date: 2006-08-25 11:09 pm (UTC)4. I don't think that's an unpoular opinion! I mean, I liked Denny a lot and I liked Izzie/Denny as a plot device, but I'm one of the few on my f'list.
6. Word again. There is absolutely nothing boring about S1 Duncan. There are a lot of boring things about S2 Duncan/Veronica and Lilly 2.0, but people need to lay off Duncan. It's not his fault the middle of S2 sucked.
7. Which makes you the only person in the world, you know that don't you? Hee.

Date: 2006-08-25 11:15 pm (UTC)4 is sort of borderline... I should probably have put my love for Callie instead.
Season 1 Duncan with his bleacher jumping and his sexually overtoned conversations with his dead sister and his love for Veronica in spite of thinking she was his sister... yeah he was anything but boring.
It's okay. I'm used to being different.

Date: 2006-08-25 11:19 pm (UTC)Yes, Jayne and Kaylee are all uncouth and plainspoken and honest about their sexuality and they obviously genuinly care about eachother and enjoy eachother's company and such.
Honestly I like Kaylee/Simon (yes I like Kaylee/Simon and Simon/River and Kaylee/Jayne). It's cute and enjoyable and the sex scene at the end of Serenity was GAH.

Date: 2006-08-25 11:44 pm (UTC)i mean, i do love logan/veronica, but it's not actually one of my favorite ships.
and i do not understand why everyone went so gaga over izzie/denny either. they didn't exactly make me want to puke, but they did make me cringe and roll my eyes a lot.

Date: 2006-08-26 12:43 am (UTC)2) for the most part i agree. i read a harry/hermione fic that i liked once, but obviously it's not my preference.
3) heh, don't think i need to comment here. :P
5) in a lot of ways i completely agree, but i think people can be put off by sexual details in a gender pairing they don't find appealing.
6) i never liked duncan much, but i think a lot of that goes back to #1. plus the actor was unimpressive compared to the rest of the main cast.
8) yeah, i agree with that.
9) i think the reason i always get more interested in the main characters is my lack of imagination when reading. i have a lot of trouble picturing things, so my focus is often on that rather than absorbing the background characters and activities. it really bothers me, actually. :\

Date: 2006-08-26 01:17 am (UTC)same goes for sirius/remus, which i firmly believe is NOT OTP IN THE LEAST and find annoying.
Ron is totally straight.
slash or het, doesn't really matter. what matters is the relationship that the characters have... or not.
anyway.

Date: 2006-08-26 03:21 am (UTC)Given, I don't watch VM, so I got nothin' for any of that, and I'm a pretty hardcore straight girl, and I looooooove the villains with a burning passion. *drools over Lord Voldemort*
But just about everything else... Whee! *loves*
