First I have sort of an awkward question/request to make. I'm writing a story right now that is contains a number non-white characters (African American, some of whom are of mixed parentage) and I'm finding myself terrified of putting my foot in my mouth and saying something stupid, stereotypical, or just generally offensive, in relation to their ethnicity and at the same time not wanting to just ignore it. So I was sort of hoping that maybe someone on my flist who would define themselves as being of said racial category might be willing to talk me through it a little.

1) Sat on the Iron Throne. With everyone dead there was no one to accuse him of treason. It wasn't really that uncomfortable as he was a lightly built man so he decided to keep it, since that would be a deterrent to those with physical prowess he lacked. That would come in handy when the population started to recover come spring and people began to try and question his authority.

2) Gave Catelyn Stark a proper burial. He laid her next to her daughter and raised a giant monument over them. He visits it regularly, bringing flowers and talking to the dead. What people don't know is that the mausoleum contains an entrance to an escape passage.

3) Bartered the food stuffs he'd hoarded for a crown. Then he gave the person most likely to threaten his reign Harrenhal with a smile.

1) Took the one ship he could find still functioning to the ruins of Earth That Was. The place we dead and barren but it seemed appropriate. Where else could he lay her to rest? She had been just as broken.

2)Worked without sleep for 2 1/2 weeks at a makeshift clinic. He couldn't meet any of the refugees eyes. If it weren't for him the world would have been protected from her, instead of her having been protected from the world.

3) Back on Earth That Was, he put a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. The radiation and destruction he could have handled, but the 'verse was too lonely without her... even if he had been the one to pull the trigger for her too.

1) Knew that Hamlet's feelings about her would cool. When he went nuts she saw the opportunity to lock him down anyway though.

2) Compares every man to her brother. None of them match up. Her madness is mostly the result of knowing he will be disappointed in her when he hears of what has happened.

3) Looks up to Gertrude and has little fantasies about her favoring her among the other noble maidens and braiding her hair... sometimes it is a motherly thing... sometimes it is sort of lesbonic.

1)Her mother was a frail woman, prone to fainting, who was put aside by her father for failing to produce a male heir.

2) Her father was prone to indiscretions involving low class whore and other people's wives and daughters. Eventually someone poisoned him.

3)Macbeth wasn't really up to the standards she had hoped for in a husband, but he was a decent fixer upper. She would have killed him if someone with a better position had wanted to take her as a wife.

1)Pointed out to Bones that practice at shooting clowns had clearly paid off as they hid out in the Gormagon vault, living off Cliff Bars she'd had in her purse.

2)Broke into a military base and borrowed a tank. Those sons of bitches who had sucked the life out of his innocent son had another thing coming.


3)Took Bones' comment about needing to repopulate the human race literally. She didn't correct him, even between moans.

1) After the feds turned a percentage of the entire 'verse into Reevers with another attempt to pacify people, and Simon died during their struggle to spread the antidote River destroyed the Cortex and all the space worthy vehicles... it wasn't safe.

2) She helped Kaylee raise the baby, her eyes were like Simon's and she was quick to learn. River danced with her around the yard and Kaylee smiled, though it was a sadder smile than before. At night they all curled together in the large bed, too large for the three of them even. Kaylee was warm, warm like sunlight.

3) Now that the daughter had grown to big to stay in their arms, Kaylee and River were alone, they whispered half remembered memories and little facts about him. Sometimes their memories disagreed and River would lean over Kaylee and insist, "No, it was more like this." and in the end it didn't matter who was right.

1) Establish the office as his stronghold. It was surprisingly well positioned to hold off an attack and he knew its intricacies better than anywhere else. Finding Pam still alive there was a surprise though.

2) Shot any and all remaining bears on sight. They were a menace who would take advantage of mankind's current weakness.

3)Euthanized Angela's remaining cats. Undoubtedly they could not survive in her absence and he perhaps identified a mirror to the pain in his heart and her departure from this world in their small faces. After he did it; he burned their stiff corpses and regretted that he had an obligation not to follow them to her.

Three things Lucille Bluth did after the world ended by robot uprising.

1) Enjoyed having been right about them all along. She'd warned people after that incident with Buster, but of course everyone had told her it was just the vodka talking.

2) Had a couple (dozen) martinis with her friend Claire Meade, before they had to switch to rum based drinks. The tax shelter investment of a small chain of Caribbean islands (completely undeveloped and robot free) had turned out to be a good investment.

3) Left both George and Oscar once and for all. The robots seemed to think they might be of use and she didn't really care enough to argue. She had Buster safely hidden though, no one was going to touch her son. Besides, most of the hidden assets were in his name.
