This weekend has turned out far better than expected. First there is the fact that my dearladydisdain came and rescued me from boredom and emoing by running off to play with me. We have watched: Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie), The Lion King (in all it's VHS glory), and Clueless (how could anyone not totally love Josh?) and we did some Tarot readings with my beloved Legend: The Arthurian Tarot deck(not to be confused with the other Arthurian Tarot deck). We also called rawles and talked to her on speakerphone in an attempt to pretend she was wih us. In addition to having dearladydisdain staying with me, last night sophia_helix and actoplasm came over and we had a four course meal of carbs( crackers and cheese, pizza and macaroni and cheese, latkahs, and chocolate chip cookies) and watched The Life of Brian, the night's episode of Grey's Anatomy, and a few episodes of Pete and Pete. I should really hang out with them more often.

Recent Fandom Insights Include:

Zoe is McGonagall (well actually this was a new years revalation). Which led to OMG the crew of Serenity at Hogwarts. dearladydisdain elaborates in her lj.

In the movie, Pike is totally the Slayer, not Buffy.

Big Pete of Pete and Pete as Lee Adama. Which leads to Little Pete dying because OMG Ellen let him pass flight school and various other mishaps.

The pseudo incest in Clueless is sort of like Lee/Kara, not in characters but because Cher's dad thinks of Josh as a son just like Adama thinks of Kara as a son/daughter/whatever. Both are totally the favorite son.

Simba is angsty and emo... and sometimes he is wee like Lee. Which led to cracky ideas about Adama having an evil brother (except he sort of does and his name is Tigh, except Tigh loves Adama so you know). But more importantly angst... and Lee and Kara as young Simba and Nala (before she loses her afrosass)

Starbuck should be a cylon so that there will be many copies of her and everyone can have their own, because everyone needs a Starbuck.

1) If I were ever to actually write my novel it would be in an anti-naturalist style. Critiquing my own writing yesterday made me notice how much I am about meaning of things and not about little details and methodical description of every little event.

2) Dear Professor,

Some of us have to commute. Also some of us have finals after yours. If you are only going to use half the final period alloted to you at the ungodly hour of 8AM on a Monday morning, please use the second half so that those of us who commute and have finals supposedly right after yours do not have to sit around waiting for their next final for an hour and a half, when they only got a few hours of sleep plus a half hour nap in their car this morning because they had to leave the house at 6AM to make sure to be to your stupid final at 8. 8 is the first final slot... no one is going to have a final before that and no one wants to be up at that hour... so if you are going to use half of your 8-10 slot... use the 9-10 bit and not the 8-9 one. Everyone will be glad you did...even people who don't commute and don't have other finals today.

3) Yes I decided not to finish my last paper last night because my scumbag father decided to be useful and offer to turn it in on Wednesday for me (when it's actually due) so that I won't have to drive back out here if I don't turn it in today. I was just too tired and the paper was not writing well and Bad News Mike was bothering me and dearladydisdain was not online. So I went to bed at 2 and got 3 hours of sleep before I had to get up at 5 and get dressed and drive here to school. I got here at 7:15 and napped in my car until 7:45 and then I went to the dumb short final and now am at the computer lab in the library wasting time because I have to be at my playwrighting final at 10:30 and I was supposed to meet up with my friend at 10 but I am out early.

4)It is possible I will return to fannish things someday but right now I am just in a real life mode so deal or defriend or whatever you feel the need to do.

I have just been told to relax and surf the web because my account is messed up.

I commented to some people earlier today that, as a US and California citizen, I feel like I live is a horrid crack!fic. A crack!fic in which Crabbe or Goyle has become president, with a cabinet full of death eater friends of his father like Lucius Malfoy, and Gilderoy Lockhart is governor. I didn't vote for these people by I feel contaminated by association with those that did. Where is my Dumbledore? Where is my Harry? Where is my Hermione, my Weasleys, fuck it where is my Snape even? Madame Bones has retired surely to be replaced by someone horrid and analogies are a scary thing once you start thinking.

1)So many of the professors/vets here have yummy accents... mmmm I love to just listen to them talk when they come in to get things from my coworkers. I wish I had a good accent. Damn being Californian!

2) At my house we have gnomes. The gnomes (for those of you who haven't watched the beginning of Season 4 of Buffy) move things. Our worst gnomes tend to be the deodorant and tampon gnomes. So Saturday night my sister and I were doing laundry and as we were talking out we heard a crash and then the cat appeared. We weren't sure what she knocked down until we came back and found that it was the mirror. For some reason this lead Tatiana, my sister, to suggest that the cat was the Queen of the Gnomes. I thought this was weird until we got annoyed and trapped the cat under a laundry basket to keep her from messing everything up for a while. While she was trapped, we found 5 things of deodorant and various other missing items that the gnomes had previously taken. We reasoned that the gnomes were trying to ransom their queen by giving us things back so I became convinced that she was indeed the Gnome Queen. Since she is clearly not a gnome, we have decided that she must have been chosen for being cute, just like in Labyrinth Jareth was obviously chosen for being awesome and David Bowie to be the Goblin King, even though he is not a Goblin. This lead to crack!fic images of Jareth and the cat hanging out and then Tatiana suggested that maybe the cat was really David Bowie... oh man. Fandom has melted my brain.

3)I was going to apologize about all the polls except I am really not sorry.
