1)Give me a character from any fandom you know I am into and I will tell you:
a. My favorite thing about that character.
b. My least favorite thing about that character.
c. One person I would ship them with in their own verse.
d. One crossover ship for them I think would be neat.
2) I realize I've never done that meme where people request pictures of things in your place of living (books, tea collection, shoes, the view from your computer, etc.) and you upload them. So ask way.

c) Hodgins naturally (though if we are going anti-canon I can ship her with either Bones or Booth as well)
d)Gilderoy Lockhart... their relationship would be doomed from the start but he'd be too pretty for her not to give him a try.
Pictures to follow.

It would have made sense as a post doc or just as outside work he was doing while finishing his dissertation but it's a flawed plot point the way they have it.
c) Cam's sister?
d) Kaylee from Firefly. She'd tell him, non maliciously, what he could not pick up on himself.

b)Conversely it was so frustrating how naive he was.... seriously the Red Wedding would never have happened if he'd had any sort of clue.
c) Jon... mainly because they were the only two we ever really saw have a real relationship.
d)Hermione from Harry Potter. She'd share his good intentions but give him a pragmatism he totally lacks and keep him alive like she does Harry and Ron.
2)Does it have to be a drinking vessel for tea or can it be any kind?

Date: 2008-01-03 11:02 pm (UTC)The Starks are totally Gryffindor. The Tullys are Hufflepuff (they bend like the reeds).
(Also clearly Hermione likes redheads)
(pictures to follow some time this evening)

Date: 2008-01-03 11:14 pm (UTC)Heh, I hadn't thought of that, but yeah, even that works out. You should totally write a Robb/Hermione crossover fic! :)
The Tullys make sense as Hufflepuffs. I think the Tyrells are, too (which is why I like them so much). (And Queen of Thorns is totally Zacharias Smith :P) Lannisters are obviously Slytherin, as are Freys, and Greyjoys are Gryffindor again. I'm not sure about Martells... they come closest to Ravenclaw, I guess, but are probably still more Slytherin than anything. And Targaryens are just too crazy to tell...

Date: 2008-01-03 11:22 pm (UTC)I actually see the Tyrells as being pretty Ravenclaw as opposed to Hufflepuff. The Martells seem totally all over the board. The Targaryens are some horrible Gryffindor/Slytherin hybrid.
And now I know what my next poll is going to be on.

Date: 2008-01-03 11:49 pm (UTC)Targaryens as a Gryffindor/Slytherin hybrid make sense -- the good ones, like Dany (uh... well, just Dany, pretty much, from those we've seen up close) are rather Gryffindorish, while the bad ones seem to have the worst of Slytherin in them.
Yay, return of the polls!

I love polls.

Date: 2008-01-04 02:05 am (UTC)The family house in ASOIAF vs. sorted house in HP makes it difficult to draw the distinction between being loyal to one's family (which, I agree, is a Slytherin trait) and being loyal to one's house. I'm willing to grant the Tyrells wider loyalty than just family because they seem to be decent and loyal to the people they "adopt" -- Loras's devotion to Renly is probably the clearest example, but one gets the sense that they really would have been pretty good to Sansa if their plot had worked out, and their decent to her even when it does not, and Margaery and Loras are nice to Tommen. Of course, there are good ulterior motives for pretty much everything, but that's just one of the reasons why ASOIAF is not HP :)
Oh, and Baratheons = possibly even more Gryffindor than the Starks.

Date: 2008-01-04 04:51 pm (UTC)I can definitely see that with the Tyrells and I do think that they have Hufflepuff traits. I just see it as being through a screen of Ravenclaw logic, since it's not like they are going out of their way to help people it isn't advantageous for them to do so with. I wouldn't count the Loras/Renly relationship as outstanding loyalty though really since who isn't devoted to their boyfriend you know? And Tommen is totally a sweet little boy as well as their way to the throne so why on earth wouldn't they be nice to him? Also once their plan with Sansa fell through they pretty much just gave up on the idea, rather than having any loyalty to it... which made sense but still more discerning Ravenclaw than loyal Hufflepuff.
Baratheons = ridiculously Gryffindor.
Also, I am very glad that ASOIAF is NOT Harry Potter.

Date: 2008-01-05 12:52 am (UTC)Agreed. (About the only way it wouldn't be Gryffindor-rash would be if R was purely motivated by begetting PWWP for some reason, in which case it was just pure Targ crazyness, like setting stuff on fire for whatever crazy reason that had been done by whoever that had been. Sorry, I know I should know that less vaguely, but I just can't keep track of the crazy Targaryens and their crazy motivations.)
I definitely agree that the Tyrells' Hufflepuff traits are at least as largely motivated by Ravenclaw pragmatism as by being a bunch of genuinely nice folks. (Though one does get the sense that Willas and Garlan, at least, are actually nice guys.) It's a bit hard to say how much of which is what, since we haven't had a Tyrell POV (I hope
I wouldn't count the Loras/Renly relationship as outstanding loyalty though really since who isn't devoted to their boyfriend you know?
Cersei? :) (But, yeah, I'm not arguing that that's sane, or normal, or common -- though it does seem to be more common in ASOIAF than in most other venues.)

Date: 2008-01-07 04:48 pm (UTC)I think the Tyrells are mostly nice people. I just feel like they are also pretty logical and pragmatic. A Loras POV would definitely be interesting.
True, true about Cersei. I just mean devotion to one's significant other isn't exactly the same as devotion to a third party.
